The future musician

From day one Gabe has had a great love for music. When he was first born he had to be inside of an isolette, under the phototherapy lights, for his jaundice. He would cry and unfortunately I wasn't able to pick him up and comfort him... so I would place his little seahorse inside his isolette and it would play music for him. He would stop crying immediately.

Music is also the only way we can survive car rides... it has to be playing and boy does he get mad when Daddy turns off the radio to talk on his phone!! I remember riding in the car with Gabe when he was just a few weeks old and playing the Rascal Flats CD over and over because it was the only thing that kept him from screaming... and now that he is a big 9 monther he sings right along. It is so cute to hear him "singing" from the back seat :) (oh and Mommy and Gabe are more into Lady GaGa and Jay-Z these days)

We also sing lots of silly songs. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't sing "Old McDonald Had a Farm" or "The Wheels on the Bus"... he is just instant smiles and giggles when you sing to him (and the best part is he doesn't even mind when you sing waaaaay off key). When we are not singing silly songs, you can find me and Gabe dancing around the house (like nuts) to various tunes off of my ipod.

This morning I captured some pictures of Gabe playing with one of his favorite musical toys.... his piano! Gabe has loved this piano since he was an itty bitty newborn. We used to keep it in his pack n play and he would kick it and make it play... He used to lay in there and play his piano for a good hour each morning (which was great b/c it gave mommy some time to let that coffee kick in) This piano was a great investment, as it has "bought" me several hours of sleep and I highly recommend it to every mommy!!

Rock on Gabe :)
